Privacy
Tunio is built so that we do not need to know anything about you. This page says what that means in practice.
On your device
- Your library, history, settings and addon list are stored on your device.
- Guest mode is the default and is fully functional. There are no accounts, emails, usernames or passwords.
- Private mode keeps nothing beyond the session.
Sync (optional)
- Devices link by QR code or link. Nothing else identifies you.
- Everything is encrypted on your device before it is sent. The sync server stores random IDs and ciphertext only. It never sees names, emails, listening history or keys.
- If you lose every linked device and have no recovery code, the synced copy cannot be read by anyone, including us.
What leaves your device
- Addons are separate services you choose. When you search or play, the addons you have switched on receive the search text or item they need to answer. Each addon has its own operator and policy.
- Music matching uses MusicBrainz IDs, so lookups go to a MusicBrainz or Tunio search service.
- If you play a torrent source, the peers of that torrent can see your IP address, as with any torrent client.
- Web servers that deliver the app and addons see ordinary request logs (IP address and time).
